In 2015, my life changed without warning. My father suffered a serious head injury and spent months in a coma. At the time, my engineering career was exactly where I had planned it to be. I chose family over career, moved to India to care for him, and continued working remotely for about a year.

It was the most difficult period of my life. The goals I had worked toward fell away, my health suffered, and I learned a hard lesson about who truly stands by you when you need help. Many did not.

After returning to Canada, I went back to network engineering. A few months later, a serious highway collision destroyed my car and, remarkably, left me unhurt. It forced a question I could not ignore: if I had not walked away, who would care for my family? I decided to build a career that kept me close to them.

I already understood the immigration system from the inside. I had managed my own work permit and permanent residence, my parents' journey from visitor visa to sponsorship, and my sister's path from international student to permanent resident. I completed the required program, passed the licensing exam, and became a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) in 2020.
